MOTO VOTO

2020

Launched during a pivotal election year where the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the inadequate infrastructure of the U.S. sociopolitical system, MOTO VOTO harnesses the power of motorcycle culture to create a roadmap for social change.

The Official Unofficial Motorcycle Voting Station, MOTO VOTO‘s first project, is a collaboration with artist Aram Han Sifuentes to raise awareness about and critique voter disenfranchisement. Anyone can cast a symbolic vote in this motorcycle voting station in which a motorcycle top box becomes a ballot box. The Official Unofficial Motorcycle Voting Station will be popping up in various public spaces around Los Angeles (with hand sanitizer!) from September 2020 through Election Day, November 3, 2020.

KNOW YOUR DISTRICT: In September 2021, MOTO VOTO staged motorcycle rides along the boundaries of Los Angeles City Council districts to raise awareness about the Los Angeles City Council Redistricting Commission. Audience members can follow the rides online, go on the rides by using MOTO VOTO’s maps, and/or keep an eye out for a MOTO VOTO flag in their neighborhood reminding them to KNOW YOUR DISTRICT through participating in the redistricting process.

MOTO VOTO is currently seeking collaborators who know how to get Harley Davidson to sponsor a beautiful custom tour bike for a national voter engagement tour.
